XAU/USD trades at $4,028 per ounce this Friday morning, facing modest near-term headwinds as a firming US Dollar exerts downward pressure across the precious metals complex. Both gold and silver have shown localized weakness in recent sessions, with the dollar's relative strength increasing the short-term opportunity cost of holding non-yielding bullion. Despite this tactical softness, spot prices continue to consolidate cleanly above major psychological support, supported by deep structural demand from official institutions.

The broader macro backdrop reflects a historic realignment in international reserve management. Gold has officially overtaken US Treasuries as the world's top official reserve asset, with central banks and sovereign institutions now holding roughly 38,700 tonnes of bullion valued at over $5 trillion. This sovereign stockpile represents approximately 18% of all gold mined in human history, currently estimated at 220,000 tonnes worth $31 trillion. Underscoring this multi-year structural shift, UBS reconfirmed its constructive long-term outlook, projecting targets of $4,675 per ounce by the end of 2026 and $4,800 by year-end 2027.

Market Overview: The path of least resistance remains constructively tilted to the upside over a multi-session horizon as sovereign accumulation continues to absorb dollar-driven pullbacks. Sellers face heavy structural bid density near the $4,000 psychological floor, with secondary support anchored at $3,975. Conversely, a firm recovery above immediate resistance at $4,080 would clear the technical pathway toward overhead targets at $4,120 and $4,180.
