Bitcoin (BTC/USD) trades at $64,335 this Wednesday morning, attempting to stabilize after falling out of its ascending price channel during yesterday's session. The digital asset faces a pivotal macroeconomic catalyst today as the Federal Reserve concludes its policy meeting under Chair Kevin Warsh. Unusually high uncertainty overhangs the decision, with markets pricing in a 40% probability of a surprise 0.25 percentage point interest rate hike. Citadel Securities notes that Warsh could deliver this rate increase to reinforce central bank credibility against lingering inflation risks while marking a definitive end to forward guidance. This prospect presents an immediate headwind for risk assets.

Participation metrics highlight an acute liquidity drain across global spot exchanges, where trading activity has dropped by more than 75% since late 2024 to levels last seen during the 2023 bear market. Monthly volume on Binance slid to $35 billion in July compared to $246 billion in November 2024, accompanied by spot volume declines of 85% on Bybit, 61% on Coinbase, and 67% on OKX.

SoSoValue data shows spot BTC ETF products suffering a 4th consecutive session of net capital outflows, with short-term holders continuing to capitulate at a loss. However, derivatives data provides a counterbalancing signal. Funding rates on major futures venues have begun turning positive, and the proportion of circulating supply in profit has recovered to 56% from 47% in June, mirroring structural bottoming patterns observed in late 2022 and late 2024.

Market Overview: The immediate challenge for buyers is returning price into the ascending channel that broke down yesterday, making $64,500 the essential control level for the session. Reclaiming $64,500 would restore technical structure and open a path toward the upper channel boundary at $67,800, which Bitfinex identifies as the aggregate breakeven level for five-month holders. Consolidating above the $67,800 to $68,500 range would flip key overhead resistance into firm technical support. Conversely, if buyers fail to overcome the $64,500 barrier, the path of least resistance tilts toward a retest and potential renewal of local lows in the $62,000 zone.
